Last Friday provided a memorable moment in the football career of Blackwood club product Kiera Mueller.
The 19-year-old Coromandel Valley resident made her AFLW debut for the Adelaide Crows during the twilight Round 9 match against Geelong at Unley's Wigan Oval.
A member of Blackwood's 2020 HFLW senior premiership victory, Mueller was drafted by Adelaide during July's national AFLW draft – the small running defender having come under notice for her consistent performances for Sturt in SANFLW ranks.
Starting on the interchange bench, the past SA Under 18 representative ended her first game at the elite level with five disposals and an important four tackles from her on-field efforts in what was a tight contest.
Defending premier Adelaide ultimately scored a thrilling two-point victory over the Cats, adding to celebrations for debutante Mueller – who became the 63rd player to represent the Crows in AFLW competition.
