Vietnam War veteran Clyde Slack can recall the first time machine gun fire whizzed over his head.
Mr Slack, pictured, was on a truck with a group of his fellow soldiers when the bullets missed them by a few feet.
“Somebody let rip with a machine gun above our heads, it made us realise that you weren’t there to muck around,” he said.
