I too have great concerns regarding dangerous driving and speeding vehicles in Pridmore Terrace and believe that without council intervention there is great risk of a serious vehicle accident in the future. Drivers ignoring the no-through traffic sign and entering Adelaide Road from Pridmore Terrace is just one of a number of issues.
The terrace has become an unofficial, high speed, short-cut, used by drivers wishing to avoid the traffic signals on Adelaide Road.
It’s common to observe motorists travelling along Pridmore Terrace from Adelaide Road, at speeds well in excess of the 50km/h speed limit, often veering over to the opposite side of the road as they take the narrow bend.
I have no doubt that there are other residents who have concerns regarding this local road and I would urge them to make their concerns known to the council which is seeking feedback from the community for its “Integrated Transport Plan”. This traffic plan, if implemented, is likely to have major implications on traffic and road infrastructure across the Mt Barker Region. I understand it is likely that even more traffic signals are planned to be installed along Adelaide Road which may lead to more driver frustration, causing Pridmore Terrace to become an even more popular by-pass road in the future.
