Sheep of all shapes and sizes joined the flock at the Royal Adelaide Show this week, with Hills farmers claiming prestigious awards.
A Romney ram Radstock Rossi Boot bred by Meadows Radstock stud owner Leslie Brewer was named the Champion Romney Ram.
But the awards didn’t stop there for Ms Brewer, with a 9.4kg fleece from a ram shorn last year claiming multiple awards including the Champion Romney Fleece and Highest Weighted British Breed Fleece.
The fleece was also named the Champion British Breed Fleece and Supreme Australasian and British Breed Fleece.
Ms Brewer also won several other categories, including Ewe over 2½ years with own lamb at foot and Ram over 2½ years and between 1½ and 2½ years.
Ms Brewer said it was a very successful show for her, with the Champion Ram the one award she always aspires to win.
“I’m very thrilled with our wins, we had a lot of competition … normally we do well with the fleece but this year it was tremendous,” she said.
“The whole atmosphere of the show is great and it’s something that I look forward to every year.”
Macclesfied Pebble Stone stud owner Helen Wright’s Romney ewe was named the Reserve Champion Romney Ewe.
Her sheep also placed first in several other categories including Ewe between 1½ and 2½ years category and Pair of Rams under 1½ years.
