ROB Tanner (The Courier, August 8) needs informative sources about the jet stream.

I studied climatology at university level and I can assure him that the jet stream never used to, and does not, flow from the Equator to the Poles.

Never did and never will. I don’t know where his ideas come from.

There seems to be an awful lot of misinformation being bandied around as fact or “science”, in both his letter, and the one adjacent to his, by K. Stachovic.

I am sure, however, that birds are responding to the changes.

But “Bushcheck” and Rob Tanner needn’t do their own studies.

There are plenty of scientific studies out there and none of them, I am sure, say that the jet stream flows from the equator to the poles.

In fact I would argue that the climate drivers are heat from the sun, and the rotation of the Earth, which in turn drive the jet streams and the trade winds.
