August is the last month in The Courier’s Rebuild Stirling campaign, but there’s still plenty of opportunity to support the town.
Over the months of winter, we’ve encouraged readers from all over the Hills to support Stirling businesses as the town recovers from the loss of its central shopping centre to a major fire last year.
In return, we’ve teamed up with several businesses to offer shoppers a reward for spending their money in Stirling – whether at boutiques, cafes or produce stores.
At the end of the campaign, one shopper will receive a $500 hamper full of products and vouchers from local businesses.
It’s not too late to get on board – just ask for a Stirling loyalty card from any of the participating businesses – and it’s a great way to show your support for a community that’s doing it tough.
But if that’s not enough to draw you to Stirling, there’s plenty to do in town across all seasons.
During winter the local hotel and cafes offer toasty fires and delicious hot offerings and, as the weather warms, the town will spring to life with events like Stirling Laneways, which runs alongside the monthly Sunday market.
Rebuilding Stirling will be a long process that will require a community effort over the long haul.
The fire resulted in the loss of a significant amount of foot traffic that was generated by the Woolworths and other stores at the Stirling Village Mall – something that is likely to continue for the next couple of years as the mall is being rebuilt.
In the meantime the remaining small businesses will rely on customers returning regularly, even if it’s not as convenient as it once was.
So don’t forget to take this opportunity to pick up a Stirling loyalty card (or another one if you’ve already filled your first!) and shop at the town before the end of August.
But more importantly, don’t forget to keep Stirling front of mind, even after the competition is over.
