IT was with some sadness that I read in last week’s Courier of the demise of the last surviving dairy in the Mt Barker region.
With rising costs and increasing land values dairy farmers have struggled for years in our once famous “Cream Bowl” area. That he has stuck it out for 60 years is testament to Mr Crompton’s commitment to hard work and his connection to the land.
