THE recent Federal election indicates that belief in human-caused climate change in Australia has perhaps never been stronger than it is now.
Many sceptics concerning human caused climate change however still exist despite the fact that about 97% of world scientists are constantly warning that human-caused climate change is a major problem that must be dealt with urgently.
I often wonder if the subject has become overly complicated to an extent that some people simply turn off.
In basic terms, man-induced climate change is very simple to understand.
When fossil fuels are burned to create energy, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.
As the level of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere, the level of heat on Earth also increases.
The problem now is that the need for energy has reached enormous levels, thus carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have reached unmanageable proportions, as has also the ever rising temperature on Earth.
Perhaps if human-caused climate change could be explained in a more simple manner, some climate sceptics will realize it is really not as complicated as they had previously thought and is, therefore, worthy of further investigation.
