Winery event win

Up to 1000 people are expected to gather at Bird in Hand Winery next week for a music event … but only a select few can use the on-site toilets and no-one is allowed to wash the dishes.
The Woodside winery last week gained approval to host two outdoor concerts a year for up to 1500 people under strict conditions – including no dish washing on site and the use of portable toilets for all but the VIP guests.
The winery is in the watershed and the capacity of its on-site waste water disposal system and the possible pollution threat has been a sticking point with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
The Adelaide Hills Council’s Development Assessment Panel last week approved the application subject to certain conditions after more than two years of negotiations.
Bird in Hand can now host two outdoor concerts a year with up to 1500 people, four events for up to 400 people and one event a week for more than 75 people (150 standing or 110 seated).
