Violinist Sophie Rowell and pianist Lucinda Collins, head of keyboard at the Elder Conservatorium, are featured in the next Ngeringa Concerts at Mt Barker on May 26 and 27.
They will be playing Bach’s Partita in D minor for solo violin, Dubugnon’s Hypnos and Retour a Montfort l’Amaury, and Beethoven’s Kreutzer.
The May 27 concert is already sold out, but some tickets are available for the 3pm Saturday concert – and the Courier has two to give away.
After growing up at Heathfield, Sophie now spends her time between Sydney and her family home.
She has been playing the violin since she was five – just over 30 years ago.
“I can’t think of doing anything else,” she said.
Sophie was the founder of the Tank Stream Quartet based in Sydney, then led the Australian String Quartet for five years.
