Mother-daughter team buck business trends
A Hills mother and daughter business team is defying a tough national economy to continue expanding its work across Australia.
Mt Barker based DVE Business solutions, which works in information technology and project management, has opened an office in Sydney and doubled its turnover in the last year alone.
It has also won national recognition as a finalist in the 2011 and 2012 Telstra Australian Business Awards, finishing third in an Australia-wide Commonwealth Bank competition for businesses and having one of its directors named runner-up in an entrepreneurial scholarship contest.
Dianne van Eck started the business in 2007.
Daughter Jo Schneider, a former senior manufacturing engineer with GM Holden, joined it a year later and the duo combined their IT and engineering skills to boost the services they could offer clients.
