Flood fix plea
Angry Sims Road residents are demanding the Mt Barker Council act to protect their properties from increasing incidents of flooding.

Sims Road residents, from left, Jeff Barrett, Carol Van Der Peet, David Matthews and Kerry and Alistair Taylor with children Abbey and Ryan, are urging the Mt Barker Council to investigate why their properties are being increasingly flooded.
Several homes on the Mt Barker road have been hit by floodwaters multiple times over the past two years and residents say nearby new housing developments and roadworks are to blame.
The latest deluge earlier this month affected at least five properties along the route from Wellington Road to Murray Avenue, swamping sheds, garages and gardens.
Long-term residents Jeff Barrett and Carol Van Der Peet said their home had been affected by flooding in the past, but the problem had worsened in the last 18 months.
“For a number of us along Sims Road, it’s become a nightmare,” Ms Van Der Peet said.
