Barriers up at 4WD haunt

The Adelaide Hills Council has put up temporary barriers to close off a 2km section of Golf Links Road at Lobethal.

Large boulders and a barrier sign have been installed at each end of Golf Links Road at Lobethal. The measures are temporary pending new gates being installed.

Large boulders and a barrier sign were put in a week ago at each end of the dirt fire track to stop vandalism over winter.
The council decided to close the road last month following complaints about 4WD motorists wrecking the track surface and roadside vegetation, and cutting property fences when they became bogged.
Engineering director Tim Hancock said the rocks and signs were a temporary measure until the ground conditions improved and workers could install a lockable gate.
The plan is to leave the track open during the fire season and to close it during the rainy months.
