A cattle fair with a Scottish Highland flair

Mt Pleasant hosted a cattle show with a Scottish flair on Sunday with about 600 people attending the event at the town’s oval.

Scott Carter from Nuriootpa uses his crook to correctly position one of his Highland cattle for the show ring.

The 2012 National Highland Cattle Show included performances from musicians and dancers, medieval displays and an array of Scottish food.
It was the first time the event included a Scottish themed day and Australian Highland Cattle Society president Trevor Perry said “a great was day had by all”.
“The vendors all reported a successful day with the caterers selling Highland beef running out of beef at around 1pm due to the larger than expected crowds,” he said.
Highland cattle from SA and Victoria were exhibited throughout the day with a UK judge selecting several winners.
