$1m theft from school

The former business manager at Murraylands Christian College has been accused of stealing more than $1m from the Strathalbyn school over many years.
Graham David Pope, 51, of Clarence Park, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court last week charged with multiple counts of dishonesty.
He is not required to enter a plea at this early stage of court proceedings.
The long-time employee resigned from his position at the school in May.
In the meantime, the college and Emmanuel Christian Schools and Ministries have taken civil action through the Supreme Court to recoup losses. They have made a bid to have Mr Pope’s assets frozen.
